STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. So far, this mandoline is a major disappointment. I kept it thinking I was out of practice and just needed a little time. But it is definitely the apparatus. It's mutilated carrots, doesn't even get close to julienne; Beets, out of the question; potatos, mush; onions, cucumbers, tomatos, eggplant mauled. The only vegetable that seems to get a decent cut once and awhile is zuccini and other smaller squash. In order to get some sort of communication with the producer I have to write a letter, which I will do, and if they send me some replacement blades and that rememdies this situation I will revisit this review. But in the meantime the only redeeming quality about this mandoline is it that it sits well and seems fairly sturdy.

I have wanted a mandoline for a long time, but did not want to pay a lot for something I was not sure I would use. This one is inexpensive and I was very impressed the first time I used it to slice potatoes and onions. It sliced potatoes with no effort the first time out. I am waiting to see how long the blades stay sharp. If you are a klutz you might find the mandoline scary at first, but for the reasonably coordinated and mechanically sensible it is a great tool. Get one.

This slicer lives up to its name. It slices veggies perfectly every time. The safety handle is not easy to use, and it won't slice some items - tomatoes, for example. However, for the money, it does what I want.
